List of fungi found.

Mushrooms of the Chicago Region. A four hour class given by Dr. Patrick Leacock, Adjunct Curator, the Field Museum. This program was part of the Learn from the Experts series, cosponsored by the Fox Valley Park District, St. Charles Park District and the Kane County Forest Preserve District.

Two dozen people searched a small area of woods in 40 minutes and found more than 50 species of fungi, plus 3 slime molds. The following list are those fungi that could be identified. This is a very respectable number of fungi considering the dry condition of the woods. With better rainfall and optimum conditions, about 100 fungi could be found in these woods with three hours of searching.

Except for the Polyporus squamosus, all of the following are new records for Kane County.
